PITTSBURGH
BALLET THEATRE, MUSICIANS ANTICIPATE MORE TALKS Representatives of
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the musicians of its orchestra met for more
than two hours on Monday to discuss the possibility of restoring live
music in performances.
This meeting was the first in many months in
which orchestra representatives and management of the PBT talked about the
ballets current financial situation. In addition, both sides expressed
the desire to restore live music to the ballet. While no resolution was
reached, both sides are planning to meet again to continue the talks.
Stay tuned to this website for updates on the talks between the musicians
and PBT management.

The orchestra musicians
of the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, under the
direction of David Knapp, are performing with Pittsburgh Youth Ballet in a
presentation of Tchaikovskys ballet The Nutcracker on December 22,
2005. The students are dedicating their performance to the musicians of
the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The musicians of the PBT are touched by
the thoughtfulness and spirit of these students, and would like to send a
warm Thank You for making a public statement on the value of live music
in our city.
